Soft Facilities Management

Goal:

Ensure effective and sustainable provision and maintenance of soft facilities such as catering, cleaning, linen and laundry as well as mortuary within identified health centres and hospitals.

Objective(s):

·         To effectively plan the implementation of cleaning, security, as well as linen and laundry services in six (6) hospitals and forty-          five (45) health centre, mortuary services in five (5) hospital as well as catering services in five (5) hospitals and forty-four (44)          health centres facilities under Soft Facilities Management.

·         To effectively develop, and ensure implementation and coordination of guidelines for contracted maintenance works.

·         To provide continuous integration of sustainability principles and maintenance initiatives of the catering, mortuary, linen and            sector.

·         To manage, coordinate and supervise health facilities maintenance contracts.

·         To regularly review and approve statements of works submitted by maintenance contractors within the catering, cleaning,          mortuary, linen and laundry services provision.

Project Brief:

The Soft Facilities Management (SFM)

The Soft Facilities section’s key aim is to ensure effective implementation, management and administration of health facilities maintenance contracts in Quthing, Mokhotlong, Qacha’s Nek and Thaba-Tseka districts. The scope of the project entails provision of five (5) main health service delivery areas namely, catering, cleaning, security, linen and laundry and mortuary in eight (8) health centres and one (1) hospital in Quthing, ten (10) health centres and two (2) hospital in Qacha’s Nek, seventeen (17) health centres and two (2) hospitals in Thaba-Tseka as well as ten (10) health centres and one (1) hospital in the Mokhotlong district

Soft Facilities Management focuses on maintenance of five main health service delivery areas namely;

·         Catering
·         Cleaning
·         Linen and Laundry
·         Security
·         Mortuary

Catering

This service basically looks at ensuring that all patients both pre and post-natal receive nutritious meals at all times for sustainable health and speedy recovery. In the four districts of Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong, catering service is provided in forty-four (44) health centres and five (5) hospitals.

Cleaning

The main aim is to manage the provision of proper cleaning and disinfection of all the fifty-one (51) health facilities falling under the health facilities maintenance projects in the four (4) districts of Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong.

Linen and Laundry

The linen and laundry service aims at providing internationally approved cleaning of linen procedures. This service is provided in fifty-one (51) health facilities in the four (4) districts of Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong.

Security

The core focus in this area is to provide adequate 24 hours security services to health facilities. The service is done through providing safe and secure environment for both health professionals and patients in the earmarked health care facilities. The service is provided in fifty-one (51) health facilities in the four (4) districts of Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong.

Mortuary

The main aim of mortuary service is to ensure that the remains of patients who pass on while in the hospitals’ custody and those brought by police are well preserved and handled in a safe and dignified manner. The service is provided in five (5) hospitals in the four (4) districts of Quthing, Qacha’s Nek, Thaba-Tseka and Mokhotlong with the exception of Paray hospital that does not have a building for mortuary.
